iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max reportedly hit with a charging bug

Image
The brand new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max handsets have only been in customers' hands for a week, but already a problem has emerged – namely that some models don't start charging when plugged into the mains if the screen is off when they're connected. At the moment the issue is only anecdotal, but based on forum posts and YouTube videos it seems to be genuine, even if the scale of the problem isn't clear yet. We've tested charging behavior on our own iPhone XS in the TechRadar office and it works fine, so this isn't something that's affecting every handset out there. Some users report it's phone inactivity that causes the charging cable not to be recognized, rather than the screen being off. In just about every case we've seen, charging carries on usually as soon as the phone gets unlocked or is interacted with. It's a bug's life Considering charging is only disabled under certain conditions, it seems that this is likely to...

This is the OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Edition The OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Edition is exclusive to India and China.

Image
One plus crushed it in India over the course of the last year, amassing over 40% of the market share in the premium segment. As a way of thanking its community, the Chinese manufacturer rolled out a Star Wars-themed edition of the OnePlus 5T. The company is now continuing its collaboration with Disney to introduce an Avengers variant of the OnePlus 6 alongside the standard version Like last year, the limited edition variant will be sold primarily in Asian markets. There were rumors ahead of the launch that the device will make its way to the UK, but OnePlus has quelled the speculation by confirming that the OnePlus 6 Avengers Edition will be exclusive to India and China.    OnePlus has custom packaging for its limited edition variants, and the OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Edition is no different. The large box comes emblazoned with the Avengers insignia, and inside you'll find the phone as well as a custom Iron Man case (which is reminiscent of the Kylo Ren case included wi...

OnePlus 6T to launch soon but should you wait for next OnePlus flagship?

Image
Isn’t it a big dilemma? Be it Apple’s new iPhone or Google’s Pixel, whenever you’re making up mind to buy the new phone, there’s always a better version coming soon. OnePlus is no exception. But unlike Apple or Google, OnePlus has shorter product upgrade cycle. For instance, OnePlus 6T is launching just six months after the OnePlus 6 launch. Based on OnePlus’s product launch cycle, OnePlus 7 shouldn’t be far away. What makes things more irking for OnePlus users is that new OnePlus phones arrive at almost the same price as the older ones. OnePlus 5T launched in India in November 2017 at a starting price of Rs 32,999. Six months later, OnePlus 6 launched in India at a base price of Rs 34,999. In case of OnePlus 6T, the phone is speculated to be priced slightly higher at a starting price of Rs 36,000. The price, however, isn’t the final and could remain aggressive, in line with OnePlus’ strategy for the Indian premium phone market. In simpler words, those who buy One...

OnePlus, on the other hand, is preparing an incremental update to OnePlus 6 with the in-display fingerprint sensor, that is certain to leave a lot of its fans in splits next month. As far as Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are concerned, the sentiment so far has ranged from excitement to disappointment. With the two new iPhones already available for purchase, Google knows exactly what it needs to go up against Apple of this world.  Google has already confirmed that it will launch its next-generation flagship smartphone on October 9. Image
Apple iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max will begin shipping starting at 6 pm today. The new iterations of the iPhone this year come with some new and some polished features over the year-old iPhone X, which is the source of inspiration for their design language. Major online and offline retailers in the country began taking the pre-orders starting September 21, giving the buyers more reasons to stamp on their iPhone choice with a handful of offers. Among the e-tailers, Airtel, Jio, and Paytm Mall are still taking pre-orders while Flipkart has put the ‘Notify Me’ label next to the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max listings. While Airtel is offering 5 percent cash back on the Citibank credit cards on the pre-orders, it falls short on the benefits that the customer will be entitled to while placing the pre-order on Paytm Mall.   The Paytm Mall is giving away an additional exchange bonus of Rs 7,000 on top of the value that the old smartphone will get the customer on putting i...

OnePlus 6T to feature in-screen fingerprint sensor: How this tech works

Image
One of the biggest draws of the upcoming OnePlus 6T is going to be in-screen fingerprint sensor technology. As the name implies, the feature will allow users to unlock the phone by tapping the screen. Still in infancy, the technology is available on a handful of smartphones but is expected to pick the steam once OnePlus 6T arrives. Some of the phones that support in-screen fingerprint sensors are Vivo Nex, Vivo V11 Pro, Vivo X21, Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS and Oppo R17 among others.   For users, in-screen fingerprint sensor changes the way they will interact with the display or the device altogether. The change, however, is more about the experience. In simpler words, it brings a great deal of convenience. But it does not mean the rear-facing or front-facing fingerprint sensors aren’t effective or fast enough. Embedding the sensor within the screen, however, paves way for fuller screen phones – a new trend that has fast caught on in the smart...

GOLD IPHONE XS MAX UNBOXING

Image
https://www.amazon.com/shop/MKBHD It looks like the iPhone XS and XS Max review embargo is being lifted, and we’ve just seen one of the first unboxing videos on YouTube … Just published his unboxing of the Gold iPhone XS Max. If you were trying to decide between the XS and XS Max, this video might help make your decision. The size of the XS Max will give you Apple’s most massive iPhone display yet, but it’ll also make it more difficult to fit into pockets. I picked up an iPhone X on launch day last year, so I am trying to hold firm to avoid spending a lot of money this close to Christmas, but these unboxing videos certainly will tempt me. Last night, we also published an article about the iPhone X and iPhone XS. If you upgraded last year, should you improve this year? If I was comparing the iPhone X to the iPhone XS, I don’t think I’d be tempted. The iPhone XS Max is causing my finger to hove...

Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro review: A notch above at price of around Rs 10,000

Image
The notch trend that first started with the iPhone X last year has seemingly become a standard for all "modern" smartphones now. And with Apple continuing to embrace the notch, two years in a row now with the newly launched iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR, it is pretty evident that the groove is here to stay. That's probably one reason why the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro also has a notch on its screen. The good thing about the Redmi 6 Pro is that it does not cost as much as what the iPhone X does, or even as much as what some of the other Android counterparts with a notch do. In classic Redmi fashion, the Redmi 6 Pro starts at Rs 10,999. This is for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage version. There's also a higher-end Redmi 6 Pro with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, which is available for Rs 12,999. You can tell the notch is the main highlight of the Redmi 6 Pro since everything else about Xiaomi's new Redmi phone seems very familiar. The Redmi 6 Pro shares many hard...

Samsung will reveal a new "4x fun" device on October 11

Image
Samsung didn’t bring new phones, tablets or watches to IFA as it had announced all of them prior to that. Yet there’s a new Galaxy even scheduled for October 11 and the launch of a new device has been promised: “Samsung’s newest Galaxy device is bringing more ways to express yourself than ever before.” So, what is it? Hard to tell. We'd be most excited to see the folding phone coming  later this year . However, this seems to be an online-only event and we doubt Samsung will unveil its game-changing device with so little fanfare. Now, the invite says “device”, so it doesn't have to be a phone, it could be a new tablet. Like, say, the slightly less enormous  but still huge  Galaxy View 2. Then there are the less exciting options. The Galaxy J6 Plus and J4 Plus (aka J6 Prime and J4 Prime in India) have been touring  certification authorities . The Galaxy A7 (2017) has been  as well . The X could be hinting at a new Xcover phone, it has been well...
